How Rope Bondage Can Feel Therapeutic

Rope Bondage is extremely hot, and while I can wax rhapsodical about how hot it is, I want to address how therapeutic it can feel. Please note that this article is entirely anecdotal. However, I have been actively experiencing and connecting with myself and others through rope since 2011.

Deep Pressure Therapy

I have heard many say that rope feels meditative, deeply calming, or like a giant hug. I believe that rope works very close to the same way that Deep Pressure Therapy does. Weighted blankets, vests, and hug machines are all examples of DTP. This type of therapy works on the principle that firm gentle squeezing of the body results in a more relaxed state. DTP is noted for working well with certain types of Autism and Anxiety disorders.

Mental & Emotional Effect

There's a strange paradoxical effect with rope bondage, when the body is bound the mind becomes free. Part of the joy is letting yourself go or becoming single minded in what you are doing. Beyond the bounds of what you agree to, none of the decisions are yours and your body has less decisions as well. All you can do, and all you are permitted to do, is feel. Rope is a medium for a wide array of emotions from meditative and comforting, to painful and embarrassing.

Self Ties for Self Healing

I have also personally found that adding pressure to certain parts of my body through tying, helps ease physical pain somewhat. Which makes a big difference when that pain is ongoing. Self tying also makes me feel like I'm in control of body, a way to pamper myself or push myself.
